Is luxury vinyl flooring scratch-resistant?

Luxury vinyl (LVF) is resistant to scratches, scuffs, and dents, making that benefit just one of the?many reasons you would want this in your home. In addition, this product is strong; it's often a top choice for floors in homes with kids and pets with a top, clear, strong melamine coating just above the printed design layer. The wear layer not only protects the floor but is also embossed and has micro beveling to give the floor visual interest, depth, and dimension. Then, a clear urethane coating is on top of the wear layer to add even more protection.?

More than the wear layer

You also should know that LVF is multi-layered and that, in itself, automatically makes something more substantial. In this case, it also makes it five times thicker than the original vinyl. True LVF?should measure in thickness at least 8-mm; wear layers are measured separately and should be 20-mils.

Forget everything you may remember from the vinyl of decades past

With images inspired by nature, you'll see vibrant photos of wood, stone, and plastic, all thanks to?modern technology like digital photography. Sometimes even flooring experts have difficulty telling it from the real thing, but since it's so budget-friendly, your wallet will undoubtedly know.

This 100% waterproof product can also be cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood, called luxury vinyl plank or LVP. It can also be cut into groutable squares, called luxury vinyl tile or LVT.

LVF is also easy to care for with only a regular sweeping and periodic mopping with a manufacturer-approved cleaner required. Installation can be a snap, especially when it's a floating floor where pieces click together, mat, and hover over the subfloor without nails or glue.
